Frequently Asked Questions

Where will it be built?

The Vietnamese Heritage Plaza will be built in a 5 acre park, Baldwin Park, that is one of Houston's earliest City parks. Located on Elgin Street between Crawford Street and Chenevert Street, Baldwin Park is the cornerstone of an ongoing process of urban renewal in an area known as Midtown. New retail and residential development in the area are attracting people back into this inner city area that is becoming a national model of urban renewal. Midtown is just north of the Museum District, which contains many of Houston's most famous memorials and museums. Midtown is also south of the Theater District, which contains many of Houston's cultural arts institutions.

In 2004, the City of Houston designated this area as "Little Saigon" in Midtown in a resolution signed by the Mayor and the City Council.

How will it be built?

The Vietnamese Heritage Plaza is part of a $800,000 renovation of Baldwin Park. The plaza will be a main component of the park's dedication ceremony. To build the plaza, $100,000 is needed. The amount is being raised from private contributions.
